The Media Billionaires’ Political Manifesto

For four decades we have watched Britain’s foreign billionaire-owned media work, incessantly, to move this country towards a far-right authoritarian oligarchy.

They have no official political party. They still have a clear, unpublished political manifesto.

So let us publish it for them.

  1. Destroy EU membership, so billionaires retain the freedom to use tax havens.
  2. Destroy climate action, so oil-funded billionaires retain their profits.
  3. Destroy the right to protest and to jury trial, so billionaires are free from opposition.
  4. Support the occupation of Palestine, because it divides society emotionally and distracts from their kleptocracy.
  5. Cut support for low-income households, so billionaires pay less tax.
  6. Privatise all monopoly public services, so the billionaire elite can extract profits from them.
  7. Remove all protections for nature, so profits can be maximised from filthy rivers, seas, soils and air.
  8. Wage war on road safety measures, so the car corporations can maximise profits.
  9. Bully party leaders into expelling their progressive wings, to retain billionaire media support. The One Nation Conservatives and the Corbyn wing of Labour have both been destroyed this way.
  10. Destroy international aid, so billionaires pay less tax, regardless of how many die.
  11. Constantly demonise refugees, migrants, gay people, disabled people and trans people, to keep the 99.9% fighting each other.
  12. Destroy the Human Rights Act, so billionaire-influenced politicians can eliminate opposition.
  13. Demonise and destroy any progressive politician who opposes the manifesto and starts gaining public support.
  14. Talk constantly about small-scale welfare fraud, to distract from industrial-scale tax avoidance.
  15. Wage endless war on international law and democratic institutions that could restrict the rights of billionaires.
  16. Demand welfare cuts to fund arms spending, despite Europe already spending around five times more than Russia.
  17. Promote Reform relentlessly until the Conservatives evict their One Nation wing and adopt the rest of the manifesto.

Read it again

Now read that list and ask yourself how much of it has already been delivered, by governments of both parties, none of which stood on it.

That is what unaccountable media power looks like in practice. Not a conspiracy — a business model, operating in plain sight, with no register of interests and no ballot box.

It is time to end this undemocratic, unaccountable capture of our democracy. It is time to take back control.

Our petition closes on Friday 18 September.
