The billionaire-owned UK newspapers currently “self-regulate” via IPSO, owned and run by the same foreign media billionaires who have captured our media and democracy.
This leaves victims of press abuse, like the wife and two young kids of the tragically deceased Jason Arday, with little or no redress against press abuse.
The fourth measure of the Media Sovereignty Act requires national papers to be members of a truly independent regulator, independent of the state and of owners.
The former was a recommendation of the Leveson Inquiry, but media billionaires bullied Labour and Tory governments into not enforcing this Leveson recommendation.
Let’s take back control from the media billionaire thugs.
Don’t Just Be Angry — Act
Following the racist media hounding and bullying of Jason Arday, it is outrageous that the only recourse his tragically bereaved family have is to complain to a “self-regulator”, IPSO.
IPSO is controlled by the same media billionaires whose frenzied attacks potentially contributed to his death.
But if you are really angry about this and want to do something, then sign and spread our parliamentary petition far and wide.
It will force Parliament to debate mandatory independent press regulation of the out-of-control foreign billionaire owned press.
Arday’s family say “a campaign of sustained abuse” was “too much for Jason”.
The Media Sovereignty Act must be adopted now to protect people from press abuse. The law must change.
It is time to end these destructive character assassinations on vulnerable individuals, with no means to defend themselves.
Tragically bereaved families like the Ardays must never again be left facing such a horrific situation without recourse to an independent regulator.
Our YouGov Poll Shows Huge Public Backing for Independent Regulation
The Media Sovereignty Act Campaign press released our YouGov opinion poll on the public’s support for compulsory membership of an independent regulator for our national press.
The results show staggering support for such a law, from across the political spectrum.
72% of all those polled backed it, and only 8% were against, with 70% of Reform supporters and 78% of Green supporters backing it.
Previous Tory and Labour governments caved to billionaire media bullying and blocked the Leveson recommendation for mandatory membership of a regulator independent of state and media owners.

The Guardian Too Must Join an Independent Regulator
The Media Sovereignty Act Campaign applies equally to all media, from left to right, including the Guardian.
Whilst we frequently point out the horrors arising from the media billionaire capture of our democracy, the Guardian, owned by a limited company, also has issues.
The measure of the Media Sovereignty Act that would most impact on the Guardian is the mandatory requirement that all national press must join a regulator independent of government and press owners.
Shockingly, the Guardian joined the billionaire press, Murdoch, the Mail, the Telegraph and the rest, in refusing to join the post-Leveson independent regulator Impress.
Thus the bereaved Arday family has no independent regulator to complain to, only the Guardian’s own internal “complaints” system.
The Guardian joined the rest of the billionaire media rat-pack in brutally piling onto Arday, publishing 12 articles in a few weeks. An unprecedented deluge, compared to white academics actually found guilty of plagiarism.
One or two articles would have been normal journalism, if based on facts, but a torrent of 12 reeks of institutional racism.
Arday had already been cleared in one plagiarism inquiry and the second inquiry had not completed.
Byline Times have done a brilliant expose of the Thiel related white-supremacist cabal behind the sustained assault on Arday, that led to his suicide.
A leak has revealed that Katherine Viner, editor of the Guardian, had been warned that the torrent of attacks was dangerously endangering Arday’s mental health.
But she continued the Murdochian deluge of assaults on him.
It is disgraceful that the Ardays have no recourse to an independent complaints system against Viner.
It is time for all national newspaper owners to be required to be members of an independent regulator.
Please sign and share our petition, which not only ends media billionaire capture of our democracy but also mandates independent press regulation.
